** PD Questions on National Health Surveys
In the past PD was rarely addressed in data collection. part of invisibility.
Task force has convened to work on adding questions to NHANES and NHIS.
The question "have you ever been told by a doctor that you have Parkinson's Disease?" appeared as a supplemental question to the NHIS in 1999. This is an annual survey of 40,000 households. This is a start at estimating prevalence. It of course misses many undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.
